District Kasganj
Kasganj is 71st district of the state Uttar Pradesh of Union of India. The district is formed with three tehsils namely Kasganj, Patiali and Sahawar. It's headquarter is situated at Kasganj. It is located in Aligarh Region.


E-Village of Kasganj

E-Village is a program of Uttar Pradesh State Government to unlock the gate of opportunities for the villagers. This program is based on '3I' technology i.e 'Think innovative, Implement & Improve your Idea.'

In district Kasganj, Village Faridpur is selected as E-village. In the very first step all data of this village are being digitized.



History

The District Kasganj was formed and established on 15th April 2008 by separating three tehsils namely Kasganj, Patiali and Sahawar from District Etah.
At the time of establishment district was named after a politician, Sh. Kanshi Ram. The decision of separating District Kasganj from District Etah was taken by former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and President of Bahujan Samaj Party, Mayawati. This decision provoked protests by lawyers who had proposed to call it in honor of Sant Tulsidas, who was born in Soron which is the part of district.The district reverted to its original name 'Kasganj' in 2012. Adjacent districts of Kasganj are Etah, Aligarh and Hathras.


Climate

Kasganj features a humid subtropical climate. The winters are moderate as it is not far from the foothills of the Himalayas, with temperature sometimes reaching zero degrees. The summers are hot and dry, with temperatures regularly exceeding 40°C. The monsoon season runs from the end of June to September. During the monsoon season, daily showers are not an uncommon phenomenon here. From October onward, the weather becomes pleasant. Proper winter starts from December and makes the atmosphere pleasant.


Geography of headquarter


Kasganj is located at 27.82°N 78.65°E. It has an average elevation of 177 metres (580 feet). Situated on the banks of river Kali, the town is in proximity of the Himalayan foothills. It is located in the Doab, the area between the holy rivers Ganges and Yamuna and the alluvium soil makes the land one of the most fertile regions. A large number of surrounding villages depend on agriculture and related economic activities.

According to the 2011 census Kasganj district has a population of 1,438,156,roughly equal to the nation of Swaziland or the US state of Hawaii.This gives it a ranking of 345th in India (out of a total of 640).
